Most men claim to uniformly hate the romantic comedy genre, but I personally feel that the term is too broad and encompassing to warrant hatred. There are definitely some extremely horrid messes that fall into the neatly package term, but also some real gems that just as easily fit the bill. Disney has just announced plans for a new romantic comedy, and while it is unclear exactly which end of the critical spectrum the film will fall into, one thing noone can question is its originality and off-the-wall plot.
Variety has just announced that Walt and friends have picked up a Julie Golden script entitled Six Month Curse. The lovey-duvey tale will follow a future wife who finds that she has been cursed with an affliction prohibiting her from having relationships longer than six months. In a hasty attempt at rectifying the problem, she heads to the rain forest where she encounters a tour guide who wins her heart. Those Brazilians, always seducing young women at Carnival....and on river boats. It’s genius.
No one has been cast and pre-production is yet to start; however, I’d wager a few of my hard earned dollars that Matthew McConaughey will be involved. Jennifer Klein is set to produce, and millions of women are set to fork over eight bucks.
