Slumdog Millionaire was by a far the most talked-about movie at the Toronto Film Festival, and now it has an award to show for it. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Danny Boyle's drama about an Indian kid who goes on the British version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire picked up the People's Choice Award at the festival, which ended today. As the article poitns out, past winners of the award include American Beauty, Life is Beautiful and Hotel Rwanda, all of which went on to get significant awards-season attention.
Other winners included Steve McQueen's (no, not that Steve McQueen) Hunger, which won the Discovery trophy, and Rodrigue Jean's Lost Song won the best Canadian feature.
