Snakes Slither Back Into First Place
Official numbers for this weekend's box office rolled out today and Snakes On A Plane took first place, even without Thursdays dubious preview numbers. It was awfully close, though.
Snakes On A Plane closed out the weekend with $13,806,311, beating Talladega Night's $13,755,387. With little more than $50,000 between the two, it was a shave closer than the one on ol' Sammy J's head. I'm a little relieved. It's fun to see something like Snakes On A Plane take first place, even if its only real competition is three weeks old. It's not fun to see New Line Cinema trying to shmooze their way into the number one spot by bending the rules a little. That wasn't the only switch up from the estimates. Accepted dropped from fourth to fifth place, losing out to Step Up by a mere $125,000. We'll have the detailed weekend update here soon. |
