Sofia Coppola's The Bling Ring Will Be Out This Summer

Harmony Korine's Spring Breakers will be rolling into theaters this March, but in case that film doesn't have enough pretty young people committing felonies then I have some good news for you: Sofia Coppola's The Bling Ring will also be out this summer.

Based on a true story, the movie follows a group of kids from an affluent neighborhood who decide to have some fun by robbing the Hollywood homes of big celebrities. Emma Watson is the star attraction in the film, but the cast also includes Leslie Mann, Gavin Rossdale, and Paris Hilton (who was actually robbed by the gang) as well as newcomers Israel Broussard, Katie Chang, Claire Julien, and Taissa Farmiga. Coppola adapted the screenplay based on a Vanity Fair article by Nancy Jo Sales titled "The Suspects Wore Louboutins."

A24 has picked up The Bling Ring for distribution and will have it in theaters in June, but the date doesn't get more specific than that. Overall June is a fairly busy month, with major releases like Man of Steel, Monsters University, After Earth, White House Down, This is the End, The Internship, World War Z and Kick-Ass 2. Where the comedy will fit in with that crowd is a mystery.

In a statement about the distribution deal Coppola said, "I’m really excited to work with A24 as they begin their company with so much energy and creativity. I can’t wait for audiences to see our young cast and for people to see Emma Watson in a whole new way."
