Jim Carrey’s career has moved on from Ace Ventura. These days he’s more interested in doing surreal Gondry movies than hamming it up with a monkey. But don’t think that’ll stop greedy Hollywood studios from making another sequel. Morgan Creek has one in the works right now, having Jeff Sank and Jason and Justin Heimberg to write a third Ace Venture: Pet Detective.

Will Jim be talked in to again wearing his Hawaiian shirt and talking with his butt? Nope. Forget it. Instead this film will feature the detective’s son. A Jim Carrey movie sequel without Jim Carrey? What a wonderful idea, after all it worked so well for Son of the Mask and Dumb and Dumberer.

So who will play the new Ventura? No word yet. Expect a cheaply hired nobody, or maybe Jamie Kennedy. Actually, those are both the same thing.
