Three years ago, Kevin Smith convinced Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks to tape themselves messing around in Zack And Miri Make A Porno, and the result was one of the more underrated and slyly brilliant comedies of the last decade. Now another studio is planning to film a different couple getting busy, but this married pair's homemade tape promises to bring with it a few more negative consequences.

Sony has just purchased the rights to a new Kate Angelo script tentatively titled Sex Tape. The comedy follows a conservative couple that impulsively gets the camera out for a night of lovemaking. The kids are gone, and it all seems like harmless fun, at least until they awake to find the tape missing. Frantic and out of options, they run around town desperately trying to find the X-rated footage before it falls into the wrong hands.

According to Deadline, the script showed enough promise to attract seven figures, which likely means it's a hell of a lot better than Upton's last offering The Back-Up Plan. I haven't seen that piece of shit, but Cinema Blend Head Honcho Josh Tyler once told me that it was worse than Skyline. I have my doubts.

No word yet on any sort of time frame, but if Sony is as excited as they seem, Sex Tape should get to filming in no time.
