Forget Jonah Hill. Who cares which overweight, mildly amusing actor Michael Bay chooses to play Shia LaBeouf’s sidekick? I want to know about the robots, and the guys over at IGN have obliged by scoring an awesome scoop.
If you’re the kind of massive Transformers nerd I am, then the thing you missed most about Transformers was named Soundwave. Soundwave was the Decepticon tape player, who ejected tapes which also turned into miniature robots. Soundwave also has a little bit of what you might call a speech impediment, but that’s all part of his cool. Soundwave didn’t make it into the last Transformers movie, probably because of the difficulty involved with the nature of his transformation. Soundwave doesn’t just transform from a boombox into a robot, he transforms from a 1 foot high tape deck into a 20 foot tall robot. The physics of that are kind of a problem, if you’re making a live action film.
But, IGN talked to Transformers 2 screenwriter Robert Orci, who tells them Soundwave will make it into the sequel. In fact, he says they had Soundwave and one of his tape robot buddies Ravage in an early script for the original movie. What Orci doesn’t say is how they’ll solve the Soundwave size problem. As long as he still has that signature speech weirdness for me to run around imitating with my friends, I’ll be happy with however they work it out. Tyler eject.

I thought Frenzy was supposed to be the realistic rendition of Soundwave, but I guess not. It makes sense though that the robots fit the size of thier vehicle realistically (look at Jazz compared to the other robots in the first movie)... Maybe Soundwave will not be a boombox, maybe he'll be something else (he was supposed to be a Helicopter in the first movie). I hope he stays as something musically based...
YEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH. Soundwave is my fav decepticon, i hope the make Him out to be like the fan art version that we transnerds saw on the net.
MICHAEL BAY IF YOUR READING THIS WHICH I DOUBT, YOU HAVE TO GET FRANK WELKER BACK TO DO SOUND WAVES VOICE. THE FANS WILL BE OVER THE MOON IF YOU GET FRANK BACK, PLEASE CONCIDER IT.
FANS OF TRANSFORMERS UNITE AND MAKE YOUR BLOG HEARD TO BRING BACK FRANK WELKER WHOS WITH ME.
I think that "Soundwave's" original voice would be awsome. I agree that Frank Welker should be in this movie as "Soundwave". There should also be 2 different factions in this movie the "Megatron Faction"
and the "Starscream Faction" Megatron should be along side
"Soundwave" (with Lazerbeak and Ravage) "Barricade" "Nemesis" and "Shockwave" (Lazerbeak and Ravage could be like *Frenzy R.I.P* small and sneaky)
"Srascream Faction" could have all F-22 jets like "Skywarp" "Dierge"
"Thundrcracker" and "Blitzwing"
As for the Autobots "Optimus Prime" "Bumblebee" "Ratchet" "Ironhide"
"Mirage" "Wheeljack" and "Cliffjumper" that's just me.
Bring Frank Welker back for Transformers 2, as Megatron! Soundwave would be a nice addition, but Welker, not Hugo Weaving, should be brought back as Megatron. Do you understand that, Paramount?
