Sparks Will Fly For Grant And Parker![]()
Sarah Jessica Parker and Hugh Grant in a romantic comedy. Yes, it sounds cliché, but this flick may have some unexpected potential thanks to director Marc Lawrence’s creativity.
According to Variety, Lawrence penned the screenplay, which was originally dubbed “Buffalo Faith.” No, it’s not about two broken-hearted individuals who magically unite and live happily ever after. Grant and Parker will play a high-powered New York couple unfortunate enough to witness a murder. The duo is placed in the witness protection program and shipped out to a middle-of-nowhere town in Wyoming. This little town may be nothing spectacular, but that only widens the range of possible comedic instances for the big city couple. This film will mark the third go around for Grant teaming up with Lawrence. Back in 2002 the two worked on Two Weeks Notice and followed it up with Music and Lyrics in 2007. Guess what genre those two fell into? Yes, romantic comedy. Parker is no novice to the love story either. She’s recently starred in romantic comedies including Failure to Launch, The Family Stone and, of course, Sex and the City. Whether or not these flicks got good reviews, all did strike a cord in the hearts of viewers. A team with romantic comedy on the brain could certainly pull this one off, so maybe clichés aren’t so bad after all. “Buffalo Faith” was originally linked to Castle Rock Entertainment, and now Sony has a hand in the game as well. Martin Shafer and Liz Glotzer from Castle Rock are producing in addition to co-producer Melissa Wells. They’re aiming for a March start date. |
