Spider-Man 3 Mini-News![]()
Spider-Man 3 news has been running all over the web this week in little bits and pieces. With help from Latino Review we’ve gathered them together all in one place.
First up: Peter Parker in Love. We know the movie franchise jumped ahead a little bit by using Mary Jane as Parker’s love interest for the first two films. Now Raimi is backtracking and including Gwen Stacy in the third film, as well as the rumors that Theresa Russell is playing Felicia Hardy/The Black Cat. Add another name in there now true believers. Elizabeth Parks recently revealed to MTV that she’ll be back in the third film as well, reprising her role as Betty Brant, who apparently filmed some scenes building on their relationship (the two dated briefly in the comics), although she’s not willing to commit too much information to the scenes: "I learned my lesson a long time ago that you never comment on how big your part is going to be in movies because you can always be cut out." Some sites (The Movie Blog) are claiming this is evidence that Kirsten Dunst is getting her wish and the franchise is killing off Mary Jane in the third film, but I don’t believe it. I don’t think Raimi would depart that far from the comic book world, although I could be wrong. Secondly: Latino Review received an anonymous tip about filming still going on with Spider-Man 3 on the Paramount back-lot. According to their source, the back-lot has a Chinatown-at-night set up that includes a stage of some sort. As they pointed out, hopefully this won’t be as bad as the Macy Gray cameo in the first film (shudder) but the scene is apparently using lots of cast and crew and the source claims to have seen both Sam and Ted Raimi wandering around. Finally, Sony has put up an official computer desktop image of the Spider-Man black costume in the rain image they released a while ago. Click here to go get that. It should be noted some sites have been running a new image of Parker in the black costume that has been proven to be a fake – it’s just a screen capture from Spider-Man 2 that someone has altered to make the costume black. Bad person out there, whoever you are! |
