Spider-Man Keeps On Swinging![]()
The beloved Spider-Man movies get better as they roll along, and there are still plenty of new adventures to share.
Last month, we posted a story here, where Tobey expressed doubts about the future of the franchise. He told USA Today, "We've done an amazing job at keeping things fresh, [but] it's hard to imagine continuously coming up with stories that deserve to be told. I'm not sure if there are more stories for this character that are interesting enough to be excited about doing more." But according to MTV News (as found on Dark Horizons), Marvel’s new CEO Kevin Feige has no intention of putting the franchise to rest after Spider-Man 3. He says, "There will be many more Spider-Man films to come. We already have stacks of ideas for the next one because of the wealth of stories in the comics. We could be making Spider-Man movies for the next 20 years, based on the 50 years of Spider-Man history we have." That’s the good news. The bad news is that the show will go on, but possibly without the same people who made it spectacular. Feige explains, "When you're concentrating on one movie at a time, there's a beginning and a middle and an end to that process. We've been topping each one as they go, [and if that happens again], that's the time for those discussions." In this case, I think that less is more. I'd rather have a few really good movies with the right people, than a bunch of bad ones that turn the whole thing into a joke. Let's cross our fingers and hope that doesn't happen. |
