Spidey 3 Trailer During Heroes![]()
Some of you may be aware that there is a movie coming out this May based on the Marvel comic book character Spider-Man. As a matter of fact, the movie is actually a sequel to two previous mildly successful films featuring the same character. The unimaginatively named Spider-Man 3 will feature some of the actors from the earlier movies, like Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, and James Franco, along with new hangers-on like that guy who Val Kilmer shot to hell in Tombstone, the kid who keeps getting cameos in the Ocean's 11 movies, and Farmer Hoggett from Babe. There is some feeling that this movie may do moderately well at the box office.
Ok, I'm kidding, of course Spider-Man 3 is going to make about eight bajillion dollars. That's bajillion with a "B." But Sony, the distributor, is not taking any chances and is taking the highly unusual step of advertising the movie on television. I'm not sure who thought that one up, but give him (or her) a raise and a corner office with a view of the park. Previously they were just yelling the name of the movie at random people who passed a deli in east Baltimore, but this is expected to reach a far bigger audience. On March 5, during the showing of NBC's super-power themed show, 'Heroes', a commercial for Spider-Man 3 will air. Sony promises that this commercial will be a new commercial and not like the other commercials that we've all seen on television, the Internet, and at movie theaters for the last few months. But wait, there's more! After wetting your appetite during 'Heroes', those crafty devils in marketing will show you six minutes from the movie on NBC.com. As a big fan of the first two flicks, I plan on at least watching the new trailer, since I watch 'Heroes' anyway. I'm not sure I'll go online, but don't let that stop you. Think for yourself. But make sure you watch all of 'Heroes', it's a damn fine show and if it gets a few more fans from those pulled by the lure of Tobey Maguire in a tight outfit, so much the better. |
