Arad may be gone from Marvel now, but he still benefits from the Spider-Man franchise. That makes it even stranger that he would accidentally let something slip to the press.

In an interview with IF Magazine, Arad revealed we haven’t gotten the last of the Spider-Man 3 villains yet – Spidey will face off against Sandman, Venom, Green Goblin, and someone else! That’s right, four villains.

I’ve already tossed this theory out there before and I’m going to offer it again, because, at this point, it’s the only option that makes sense. Spider-Man 3 is going to be overstuffed with characters if everything we’ve heard is true: Gwen Stacy, Venom, Sandman, Green Goblin, Mary Jane, and more. I still suspect the fourth and only true villain of the film is going to prove to be the Chameleon, which then makes sense to involve so many characters who he can mimic. In this theory, Venom is set up for a fourth movie but doesn’t actually take much of a part in Spider-Man 3, leaving the closing of the Green Goblin storyline from the previous movies.

I could be totally off base with that guess. After all, earlier this week it was pointed out that IMDB (which can be edited by anyone) had Dr. Conners/The Lizard listed among the cast. Of course, it also had Aunt May listed as being the spawn of Venom, Carnage, which to me rules out any credibility whatsoever until the movie hits screens.

Arad suggests that they will reveal the fourth villain around Comic-Con time. Stay tuned for more details as they come, true believers!
