Spidey's Stolen Bases

discussioncomments published: 2004-05-06 00:00:00 Author: Bill Beyrer
In an unprecedented advertising move, this summer’s most anticipated sequel Spider-Man 2 will be pimped by the most unlikely of places.....Major League Baseball.

In 15 out of 30 Major League Stadiums, will feature various spider-webs on the fields primarily on the actual bases themselves. Bob DuPuy, the baseball’s chief operating officer, spoke out on the subject "This was a unique chance to combine what is a sort of a universally popular character and our broad fan base, including the youth market we're trying to reach out to. It doesn't impact the play or performance of the game."

Some Baseball purists are outraged at the promotional use of the game, wondering if uniform Patches are next turning the players into a walking commercial like race car drivers. Look for the gratuitous MLB Spidey-pimping in mid-June, and Spider-Man 2 hits theatres June 30th.
