According to Blackfilm, Spike Lee and Denzel Washington will be collaborating for a fourth time on The Inside Man. Previous engagements include Mo' Better Blues, Malcolm X, and He Got Game.

Perfectly-symmetrical Denzel made the announcement after the launch of his Broadway run in "Julius Caesar". Production on the film will take place in June, co-produced by Monty Ross and Jon Kilik. The screenwriter is Russell Gewirtz (doesn't ring a bell). The premise is about a cop who tries to mangle a bank robber's plans by outsmarting him.

Spike Lee's last film, She Hate Me was widely panned by audiences, but 25th Hour showed that he hasn't yet lost his touch. Denzel Washington's Manchurian Candidate remake was praised by critics, but the average moviegoer didn't really connect to it. We'll see what magic they can make together again in their upcoming project.

On the plus side, this movie sounds worlds better than P.Diddy's plans to create another Ocean's 11 remake featuring modern day black icons. It's official-- originality has taken its last dying breath in Hollywood.

Thanks to 'Wilson' for the scoop.
