New Star Trek Into Darkness Spot Premieres At MTV Movie Awards

The MTV Movie Awards might not be oozing with credibility, but there’s something fun about how open the ceremony is with its desire to have fun above all else. For audiences, that fun typically manifests itself in two different ways. First, the event hands out awards for nonsense like Best Shirtless Performance, and second, there are always several incredibly glitzy and professional-looking sneak peeks, trailers and new commercials for the most buzzed about upcoming movies—like this one for Star Trek Into The Darkness.

Featuring plenty of quick cuts and brief glances at each of the characters, the footage focuses quite a bit on the Enterprise crash we already know is coming. That being said, it should still offer fans an extra little kernel of excitement ahead of Star Trek’s May 17 release date, as well as a frank reminder of how incredible the visual effects will no doubt be. Besides, at this point, most people have probably already made up their minds as to whether or not the film is worth seeing.

Here’s to hoping Benedict Cumberbatch’s villainous. performance is every bit as brilliant as we’ve all been hoping.
