Star Trek Goes Viral With New Website image
If you only saw the movie Cloverfield in theaters, you missed a large part of the story surrounding the picture, which was told through a variety of viral websites. It looks like J.J. Abrams may be carrying that same strategy over to his Star Trek movie.

Earlier this week, the official Star Trek movie website (www.paramount.com/startrek) was updated with the movie’s teaser trailer, but the perceptive surfer also should notice a clickable spot that leads to a new site: www.ncc-1701.com/. Right now the new site only features fractured camera images of the shipyard for the NCC-1701 (that’s the Enterprise to those of you who don’t know). Clearly things are still “under construction” as the trailer indicates.

Now, I’m not the type to sit in front of my monitor and observe every image shown through these four “cameras,” especially when one kind of comes and goes, but something tells me there must be something here. Is Abrams laying the foundation for another game surrounding his Trek movie?

Strike that – I left the site open while I wrote this and right before I got ready to shut the window something appeared in the “offline” camera one – a very clear shot of a hallway, along with some kind of sound. There’s definitely more to be seen here by those willing to donate the time.
