Star Trek Reviews: Sneak Peeks From Around The Web![]()
Star Trek premiered a few hours down the road from me last night in Austin at the Alamo Drafthouse, further solidifying my desire to pick up and move south a little bit. Not long after it also premiered in Australia, which means the internet is now officially flooded with Star Trek reviews. Here’s the good news: They’re almost all positive. Here’s a quick collection of the Trek reviews which have popped up online so far. There’s not a single negative review in the bunch.
“The new Star Trek movie is amazing- easily the best Trek movie since The Wrath of Khan, and a veritable feast of sight and sound: A captivating adventure that grabs you from the first and doesn't let go. “ - CinemaBlend “The most exhilarating Trek to date marks a new future for Kirk and co. If this can boldly go on to seek out ideas to match its speed and style, a franchise is reborn.” - EmpireOnline “This is the STAR TREK that I’ve been waiting for. STAR TREK that is on a grand level of spectacle, STAR TREK that is smart science fiction and STAR TREK that gives me characters that I love to spend time with.” – Harry Knowles, AICN “Without exception, I think the first 45 minutes of the movie is rock solid.” - Quint, AICN “I think this film will not only find success, but it also just might find itself as one of the surprise winners of the year. Because when it all comes down to it, the average moviegoer in America just wants to see a movie that is a shitload of fun — and that’s exactly what you’ll get with Star Trek.” Neil Miller, Film School Rejects “It’s a huge, sprawling film with gigantic explosions that manages to have heart and bravery built into each small moment.” Cole Abaius, Film School Rejects “Chris Pine does an outstanding job as a younger Kirk, paying homage to Shatner yet making the role completely his own.” - Slackerwood So right now you’re kicking yourself, wishing you’d found a way to be in Austin last night. Yeah me too. So here’s a taste of just how it went down. The Alamo has posted pictures and video from the event on their site. Here’s the film’s introduction by Fantastic Fest head honcho Tim League: And then the surprise appearance by Leonard Nimoy, revealing that it’s not Wrath of Khan they’re about to watch but the new Star Trek.
