Star Wars Animated Movie Confirmed In 3D!![]()
As usual, the trades are about two weeks behind the internet. Today in particular Variety is littered with stories that we’ve already covered in one form or another. They’re a little slow, but at least they can clean up after us and confirm the stuff we upstart internet sites have already come up with.
Of the old stories currently running in the trades today, the most worthwhile confirmation is Star Wars related. The theatrical run for Lucasfilm’s animated Star Wars movie, which we told you about last week is actually happening. Star Wars: The Clone Wars will be in theaters in 3D in August, setting the stage for the series’ debut on the Cartoon Network August 15th, and then later airings on TNT. It’s dyno-mite. So nothing new here, just the word that the good news from last week really is good, and really is coming true. I still think this is a fantastic idea, especially if the animation is really up to snuff for a theatrical release. The animated movie is expected to be a full 100 minutes, so we’re not talking a couple of TV episodes shoved into theaters for promo purposes. As the Clone Wars shorts which have aired on Cartoon Network previously, it’ll take place between Star Wars Episodes II and III, so this is our chance to finally see the exciting stuff that Lucas inexplicably skipped right over when making his movie. It sounds like they’re is going all out for this, and I can’t wait to sit down and pop on my 3D glasses for a little animated Yoda. |
