Star Wars Blu-Ray Adds Darth Vader Screaming Nooo As He Kills The Emperor
I hate to say it, but the truth is that George Lucas actually does have the right to tinker with Star Wars: A New Hope and the prequels. He may be making the films worse as a result and may be all about the money at this point, but those four films are his to screw around with. That said, he has no right to touch Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Unlike the prequels and Episode IV, Lucas did not direct those movies and shouldn't be messing with another artists vision.
Sadly it's far too late to be making this argument. Lucas has been tinkering with Empire and Jedi since the mid-90s and had made some truly dreadful changes (I can't even watch the updated musical sequence in Jedi without blood shooting out of my ears). Now with the new Blu-ray coming out, Lucas has found yet another reason to alter the Star Wars movies and one of the newest changes is just plain awful.
io9 has discovered, and Badass Digest has confirmed, that in the new version of Return of the Jedi Darth Vader screams "Noooooo" as he picks up the Emperor and kills him. The audio from the scene was leaked first and someone edited it over the original scene and then uploaded it to YouTube. Check it out below:
If that "Noooooo" sounds familiar, it's because it sounds like a deeper version of the one from the end of Revenge of the Sith, a moment that has been mocked tirelessly since the movie came out in 2005. So why the hell would Lucas do this? Is he just fucking with us at this point? Every day it becomes harder and harder to be a Star Wars fan.
