The success of Transformers means we’ll now have to sit through more movies based on 80s cartoon properties. Unfortunately, most of them are inferior. The least inferior is probably GI Joe, which is moving along towards production without Jason Statham.
Not long ago it was rumored that Statham was in the running for a part in the film. Various sources had him pegged as being wanted to play a character named “Action Man”. Talking about the rumors Statham tells MTV: “[I have] no connection with ‘G.I. Joe.” And anyone who says otherwise is getting kicked in the head.
Well that sounds definitive, at least for now. The original rumor was simply that they wanted him in the movie, it may be he just hasn’t been offered the part yet. What I'm saying is that he may have no connection now, but who knows what the future holds? For Statham it could still hold a truckload of money and a unitard made out of cammo.
