Stellan Skarsgard Joins Thor

By Josh Tyler: 2009-10-05 01:36:51
Stellan Skarsgard Joins Thor If you’re an actor with a name like Stellan Skarsgard, you’re bound to end up playing a mythological Norse god, or at least some form of Viking warrior at some point in your career. So it sort of makes sense that Stellan is joining the cast of Marvel’s god of thunder turned superhero movie Thor.

Coming Soon picked up the story from a Swedish language site called Ystads Allehanda where Skarsgard revealed that he’s on board the film and what’s more, he’s actually read the script. You might think that’s a given, but apparently they wanted him to sign on the dotted line without reading and it was only after some negotiating that he even got a copy.

Thor, as you’d expect, is being kept tightly under wraps. Skarsgard can’t even reveal what part he’ll play. Oddly enough at one point his son Alexander was rumored to be up for the title role in the film. That eventually went to Star Trek’s Chris Hemsworth, but now there’s at least one Skarsgard involved.

Stellan was last seen this summer playing a Papal asshole, opposite Tom Hanks in Angels & Demons.
