Stephen Graham Will Play Jack Sparrow's Side-Kick In Pirates 4![]()
Despite playing a major role in one of the biggest cult films of the last ten years, Guy Ritchie's Snatch, British actor Stephen Graham has never seen his career take off. Unlike his now incredibly famous co-star, Jason Statham, Graham hasn't had the same type of forward movement largely relegating himself to small film roles and television shows. Now he's landed a role that's going to get him some major attention.
Variety reports that Graham has been cast as Jack Sparrow's sidekick in the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean sequel. Playing a character named Scrum, he is described as a "Machiavellian pirate" who joins Sparrow as he quests to find the fountain of youth. In addition to franchise mainstays Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush, Graham will be joined by newcomers Ian McShane and Penelope Cruz. If his role as Tommy in Snatch wasn't enough to make him a recognizable name, then an essential role in a Pirates film should do the trick. In a movie that is so dominated by the likes of Statham, Brad Pitt and Alan Ford, there's always been a soft spot in my heart for the naive, gun-toting, milk-hating, animal-loving, wannabee gangster, and it's always great to see a talented actor get work. |
