Steve Railsback Will Film Dead Brother's Script

By Ed Perkis: 2008-08-04 09:55:52
Steve Railsback Will Film Dead Brother's Script You got to admire the pluck, moxy, and any other old timey adjective of Philip Railsback. The guy has been dead for three years and not only is his script for Flash of Genius about to reach the big screen, but he has another movie in development. I’m pretty sure there are some living screenwriters that would kill themselves for those kinds of credits.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Philip’s brother Steve Railsback will direct Barstow, a dark comedy about the small California desert town. Railsback will play one three desperate people in the town looking for hope. Keith Carradine and Scott Wilson have also signed on. Steve Railsback hit the big time in the late 1970’s playing Charles Manson in Helter Skelter, but does more small films and television work these days.

Philip Railsback lived in Barstow about ten years ago and wrote the screenplay then. The film has sort of a direct-to-DVD sound to it. The budget, put up by Monterrey Pictures Entertainment, is only $4 million. Which is about what The Dark Knight made in the time it took you to read this story. Still, it’s nice to hear about a guy doing something for his brother.
