Steve Zaillian Hired To Rewrite The New Jack Ryan Movie![]()
Steve Zaillian is becoming a very busy guy. Though he doesn't have a writing credit since 2007's American Gangster, the Oscar winner currently has the English language adaptations of Stieg Larsson's Millennium trilogy, Martin Scorsese's The Irishman and a remake of Time Crimes on his to-do list. Apparently he really likes the work because he's just been given another high-profile duty.
Deadline is reporting that Paramount has hired Zaillian to do a rewrite of the latest Jack Ryan film, which is still temporarily titled Moscow. Still without a start date, the project has been hanging around for a while now, with Chris Pine signing on all the way back in October 2009. Zaillian is the fourth writer to be brought onto the film after Hossein Amini, Adam Cozad, and Anthony Peckham, but happens to have a very special mark on his resume: he wrote Clear and Present Danger, which happens to be the highest grossing Jack Ryan movie of the four that have been produced. Looking at Zaillian's track record, it's amazing how hit and miss he can be. While sporting great titles like Schindler's List, Searching For Bobby Fisher and Gangs of New York, he also has clunkers like Hannibal and the remake of All The Kings Men. With so many upcoming titles labeled with his name it will be interesting to see how they all sort out. |
