A sex scene between Michael Douglas and Matt Damon isn't exactly my idea of a dream come true, but apparently it is in the circle Steven Soderbergh runs in. He's about to get started on his Liberace biopic, in which Douglas will play the famously bedazzled singer and Damon will play Scott Thorson, Liberace's young companion and lover who sued for $133 million after their relationship ended.

And while there might not be "a full-on, love-wrestling match between these guys," in Soderbergh's words, there will at least be bathing suits. Soderbergh told MTV "We have a hot tub scene in there," which really demands one question-- did Liberace's bathing suit have diamonds on it?

Soderbergh also had some interesting thoughts on what the tone of the film would be, especially given that he's just made a comedy, The Informant, out of a true story that would more commonly be given drama treatment.

"I don't think it's a comedy, but it's pretty funny because the environment and the lifestyle are so extreme that even just having these guys carry on a quote-unquote 'normal' conversation in one of these rooms wearing the clothes that they wore, it's hard to look at that and take it at face value. I think it's going to be really funny."

It's hard not to be excited about this movie-- all three men involved are tremendous when at their best, and the material seems to offer a lot of opportunity for all of them. But don't count Damon or Douglas, even at their most amorous, stripping much beyond matching his-and-his emerald-encrusted underpants.
