Steven Spielberg May Help Nancy Pelosi Rebrand The Democrats![]()
Steven Spielberg is one of just many Hollywood figures well known as a Democrat, but he's not exactly a George Clooney or a Charlton Heston in terms of political activism. And while the director isn't exactly moving into a political career, he may be showing up in Washington D.C. to help Democratic elected officials, specifically California Representative Nancy Pelosi.
The Washington Post reported a rumor that Pelosi is consulting "marketing experts" to help bolster her brand now that she's been demoted from Speaker of the House to minority leader following the midterm elections this fall. The most prominent of her new whisperers is Steven Spielberg, the Hollywood director whose films have been works of branding genius. Lawmakers said Spielberg has not reported to Pelosi with a recommendation. Of course, Spielberg's spokesperson Marvin Levy has spoken up to deny the story… sorta. Here's his statement as reported by the Post: "I can say as a long-time spokesman for Steven that he has made it his career to direct actors, not political figures." So can the person who got the entire country hooked on movies about a killer shark and a big-hearted alien help the Democrats deal with being the House minorities? Does it even make any sense to bring a Hollywood power player into Washington, a city that operates with a completely different rule book? Either way there's not much more more interesting to discuss in the run-up to the holidays, so speculate away in the comments. |
