Stiller Might Fight The Law![]()
If Ben Stiller plays one role well, it’s that of a frustrated man. Look at his career: Something About Mary - frustrated about a girl. Duplex - frustrated about a little old lady. Mystery Men so frustrated he’s furious. It’s a good role for him, which must be why he keeps playing it.
Stiller’s potential next role is no departure from the frustrated person. In In Deep Stiller would play a man who fights a parking ticket and “becomes increasingly enmeshed in criminal allegations” according to The Hollywood Reporter. See? Lots of potential for frustration in that scenario. One Hour Photo director Mark Romanek is slated to direct In Deep, which is currently undergoing rewrites by Steve Conrad (The Pursuit of Happyness). The original script is by George Beckerman. I find it interesting that the movie is being listed as a potential starring vehicle for Stiller. I think it’s safe to interpret this to mean that the star hasn’t signed on to the film yet and might not. Could those rewrites have something to do with it? Who knows. Stiller certainly isn’t hurting for work, especially with the much talked about Hardy Men starting to build up speed, among other projects. I guess we’ll either have another story about Stiller signing on to the script, or it will disappear into oblivion. Either way, Stiller can be frustrated somehow. |
