Stiller Replaces Ruffalo In Comedy-Drama![]()
UPDATE: We've received info from the publicist behind Greenberg that Ruffalo had never actually signed on to take the role that Stiller will play. In addition, Amy Adams had never officially signed on either. And finally, the official spelling is Greenberg, not Greenburg as we'd previously reported.
Mark Ruffalo's personal life has been in the news lately for possibly the first time ever, with the terrible news that his brother had been shot in the head, and later died. So whether it's a need for personal space or other reasons that make him want out of the spotlight, Ruffalo is dropping out of the upcoming project Greenberg, leaving Ben Stiller to take his place. Amy Adams has also left the project, reports THR, and producers are scrambling to find someone to replace her. Greenberg will be a comedy-drama from Noah Baumbach, who charmed audiences with The Squid and the Whale and divided them with Margot at the Wedding, both of which were slow-paced examinations of life among certain literary types of New Yorkers. Ruffalo and Stiller aren't similar actors, at all, so it'll be interesting to see what Baumbach thought the two of them have in common. Stiller deserves a shot at a drama career as much as any comedian, and maybe Baumbach's sardonic mix of comedy and seriousness will be the perfect fit. |
