Once a the filmmaking standard in raunch, disgust, and double-dildo humor, the Farrelly brothers have slipped into a coma in recent years. They’ve gone soft. Their last movie was about retarded people… but it was endorsed by the Special Olympics. They’ve lost their touch for offense. Either they’ve lost it, or simply given it up willingly. Either way, in the process they’ve become completely irrelevant.

But now, the Something About Mary creators are reuniting with one of the actors that made them big in the first place. According to Variety, Ben Stiller is in negotiations to join their next movie, The Seven Day Itch. It has nothing to do with the similarly named Marilyn Monroe movie. So forget that. Instead, it’s supposed to be loosely inspired by the 1972 Elaine May movie The Heartbreak Kid.

While Ben Stiller may not exactly be genius, he’s at least an upgrade from the original movie’s star, Charles Grodin. But then just about anything is an upgrade from him. Grodin’s movie is the story of a man on his honeymoon who falls in love with a woman not his wife. Basically he’s a sleazebag, though you can bet that in the movie it’s not presented that way. Sounds like fertile territory for a Farrelly return to the despicable, low brow, worn out crap that made them famous in the first place. It also presents plenty of opportunities for Ben Stiller to get frustrated and angry. He may even accidentally set something on fire, or perhaps he’ll battle a ferret, a small fluffy dog, or even a cat.

Ben of course, starred Peter and Bobby Farrelly’s most well known movie, There’s Something About Mary. His biggest scene in the film saw him providing Cameron Diaz with leftover um… hair gel. This resulted in what many people consider to be comedy. Maybe you’re one of those people.
