Street Fighter Has A Legendary Chun-Li
You would think that, after the last Street Fighter movie, nobody would want to touch the franchise again. It was an embarrassing flick that pretty much killed Van Dammeís mainstream career and can be blamed for killing Raul Julia period. Okay, maybe thatís taking things to an extreme, but itís pretty darn bad.
Despite the ghost of the last film, another Street Fighter movie is starting up, and Coming Soon says they have an inside scoop on the casting. The movie is titled Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li and will feature Smallvilleís Kristin Kreuk in the lead role of Chun-Li. Hyde Park Entertainment is behind the production with 20th Century Fox set to distribute.
The movie will focus on Chun-Liís journey for justice, which is a hell of a lot better than having the character as a news reporter like she was in the previous picture where she was played by Ming-Na Wen. Ming-Naís career survived the fiasco of a film, so thereís hope for Kreuk even if the movie doesnít fare that well. Letís be honest here, though. Nobodyís going to complain about seeing Kreuk in Chun-Liís fighting garb. That alone could sell more movie tickets than the previous Street Fighter.
