Yes, it's still happening. Hasbro didn't get too wrapped up in their plans to make movies of Battleship and Candy Land that they forgot about Stretch Armstrong, the multi-talented action figure who got picked up for duty on the big screen a few months ago. The movie, which will be written by Evan Almighty writer Steve Oedekerk, has been given a release date of April 15, 2011.In addition, Brian Grazer-- usually known for producing Oscar-friendly stuff like A Beautiful Mind-- is joining as a producer for some reason. In a press release picked up by IESB, Grazer said, "Stretch Armstrong is a character I have wanted to see on screen for a long time. He's an unconventional kind of super hero with a power that no one would want. It's a story about a guy stretching - if you will - the limits of what is possible to become all that he can be." Yeah, Grazer intended that line to be a groaner, but still-- come on! Stop trying to make this movie look like anything other than a big paycheck.
