Summit Sends Taylor Lautner To Cancun![]()
This time last year, Summit Entertainment was two pecks and some six-pack abs away from kicking Taylor Lautner off of The Twilight Saga: New Moon and going with a more bankable actor. Desperate to keep his job, Lautner got himself a trainer, some protein shakes, and bulked up, instantly turning him into the apple of millions of tweens’ and their creepy mothers’ eyes. Now Summit wants to take advantage of what they almost lost.
According to THR, Summit has picked up a spec script titled Cancun that will work as a starring vehicle for the wolf boy. The flick follows Lautner as a college outsider who travels to Cancun with a girl during vacation. The girl and her friends are kidnapped and Lautner is forced to use his karate skills to save them. The film is being set up as a joint venture between Summit and a production company started by Lautner and his dad. Let’s be real. There’s no reason for a movie like this to be made other than to show off Lautner’s newly formed make-25-year-olds-feel-bad-about-themselves 17-year-old muscles. Summit obviously hopes that the massive success of New Moon will transfer over, and with the rabid fanbase that the Twilight series has, there’s no reason to believe it won’t. Sigh. |
