Summit: it's not just for Twihards any more! That's an unfair summary of Summit Entertainment, which has released movies like Knowing and the legitimately great Happy-Go-Lucky alongside the saga of Bella and Edward. And now they'll be taking a shot on one of the weirdest celebrity-driven projects out there.
The Beaver, which Jodie Foster is directing with Mel Gibson in the lead, will be distributed worldwide by Summit, according to Variety. The project has floated around Hollywood for years now, with Steve Carell and Jim Carrey attached in the lead role at various points, but the Gibson version seems to be the one that will stick. Foster will also star alongside Gibson as the wife of the man who communicates with the world through a beaver puppet on his hand. Hey, don't judge-- much stranger movies, many of them involving Mel Gibson, have been successful in the past.
