Usually when someone makes a movie about being inspired about other movies, it’s a bunch of geeks waving around plastic lightsabers worshipping George Lucas. Well enough of that. Paramount Vantage has picked up a movie from Sundance about kids obsessing over Rambo. What a great role model.
The film is Son of Rambow, the first movie from the guys who made “Hitchhiker’s Guide” into a poorly received film, Garth Jennings and the crew at Hammer & Tongs. Rambow’s story revolves around two English boys who see Rambo: First Blood and decide to make their own Rambo movie. It’s supposed to be a coming of age story, and eventually they learn important life lessons about friendship.
The film is getting nothing but rave reviews out of Sundance, so it’s nice to know that someone plans to distribute it so that the rest of the world can get a peek at it. Apparently it took a big bidding ware for Vantage to get it. Variety says that at one point Paramount, Fox, and Miramax were all involved and fighting over it but Paramount Vantage won by paying a whopping $8 million. For that kind of money, it has to be good, doesn’t it?

I had the oppertunity to pre-view the film at the New Port Beach Film Festivel and I thought the movie was awsome, I can't wait for its release to see it again.
