Sunshine Cleaning was one of the most frequently mentioned movies coming out of Sundance this year. It stars up-and-coming Emily Blunt and Amy Adams, has an irresistibly weird premise, and shares a key word in the title with another Sundance movie that drove a yellow VW bus to huge success. And did we mention Alan Arkin is along too?

Reviews were mixed but largely positive—our own Steve West called it “a refreshing departure from the mediocre fare I saw at this year’s festival.” Now the rest of the country will finally get a chance to see it. Small distributor Overture Films has picked the film up, according to Variety, and plans to distribute it later this year or early next year.

Tellingly, the producers may also be trying to change the title. Smart move, especially since Juno got repeatedly, and perhaps unfairly, compared to Little Miss Sunshine, and the comparison usually didn’t do it any favors. Especially if the movie isn’t super-duper-great, as some seem to be saying, everyone could probably benefit by letting the thing stand on its own two legs. Still, I’m excited I’ll get a chance to see this, if only because the idea of Adams and Blunt playing sisters sounds too good to be true.
