Sunshine Cleaning Director Has A One-Night Stand![]()
Despite the combined starpower of Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, and Alan Arkin, and a Sundance pedigree, Sunshine Cleaning didn't turn into the hit it was intended to be this spring. But the movie's director Christine Jeffs is keeping on, now signed on to direct Wonderful Tonight, a movie about a one-night stand that leads to an unplanned pregnancy and a surprising relationship.
Yes, this description-- coming from Variety-- sounds a whole lot like Knocked Up. But the man in question is also described as a "confirmed bachelor," which in the old days was one of those gentle code words for gay men. Is this going to be less Knocked Up and more like that Madonna movie where she has a baby with Rupert Everett? And really, which one of those movies would we rather see made? For now I'm choosing to give Jeffs, and the screenwriter J. Mills Goodloe, the benefit of the doubt, remembering that there are really only 7 original stories to be told anyway. She's already tackled the one about the squabbling family members who must work together. May as well get into the unintended relationships. |
