Details on JJ Abrams Super 8 remain scarce, though after the movie’s last trailer it seems certain that it’s more War of the Worlds than Paul. Now we have a little more, equally vague detail to add into the mix. Paramount has released an official plot synopsis for, well, whatever Super 8 is. Here’s what they’ve sent out:

In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth – something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.

Alright, there’s not much in there we didn’t know, except that the movie revolves around a local deputy and not just the kids shooting the super 8 movie (which by the way, is a zombie movie). It’s nice at least to have some of the known details, like the date and place this whatever it is happens in, confirmed.
