Super Bowl Ads Go 3D![]()
Is television going 3D? Kind of, but it’s not exactly what you’re thinking. According to Coming Soon, one of those coveted Super Bowl advertising spots will be filled by a 3D trailer for DreamWorks’ Monsters vs. Aliens. Later in the month, NBC will continue the initiative by airing an episode of Chuck in 3D, as well.
Additionally, io9 reports that NBC had originally intended to add an extra dimension to a number of their shows. Unfortunately, logistical problems made a widespread effort impossible, leaving only Chuck in 3D. You can pick up the free glasses you'll at Sobe Life Water and Pepsi displays. Pop them on before half time and you'll be able to watch the MvA trailer on your very own TV. There will also be a second advertisement during which you can watch the Sobe lizards shake it in three dimensions. Will 3D TV become a trend? Perhaps, if its debut is successful. Something about sitting in your living room staring at the tube in cardboard glasses seems a little awkward, but, then again, many of us already watch TV shows on our computer and read books on digital devices.
