I guess it's pretty much required for all teen movies to be compared to Superbad these days, so I won't hold it against Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka. They've gotten Fox Atomic to pick up their spec script The Sitter, and Variety is totally taking the "this-thing-is-like-that-thing" bait, picking up its description as a cross between Superbad and Adventures in Babysitting.

Atomic apparently barely won the spec, beating Paramount Vantage at the last minute. Michael De Luca, who's also working on the Jim Sheridan drama, will be producing. Gatewood and Tanaka have apparently been selling a lot of teen comedy scripts lately, and you'd assume they're better than the whole "make us another Superbad!" command. An updated Adventures in Babysitting, however, wouldn't be that unwelcome. If you're going with remakes, you may as well take something at least 20 years old.
