Superman Teases No More![]()
Despite the incredibly impressive trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean 2 that coincidentally also hit the internet today, Superman Returns just pulled ahead of Jack Sparrow and company for my most anticipated film this summer. As if the teaser trailer we saw a few months ago wasn’t cool enough, the new trailer takes what worked from that teaser – the classic imagery and John Williams score – and adds what might be the next most anticipated element of the movie – Kevin Spacey’s Lex Luthor.
That’s right, Lex is featured heavily in the new trailer and *wow*!!! This is what Superman’s nemesis should be like. No disrespect to Hackman’s original, but I always thought he pulled off the part with a bit more goofiness than the character deserves. Spacey on the other hand could seriously be in competition for the best movie villain ever. Spacey’s performance aside, the whole trailer is enough to get me more excited about a movie I was pretty excited about already. I’ve always been more of a Marvel comics fan so the Spider-Man and X-Men franchises have ranked higher than the 1980s Superman flicks, but DC might finally win me completely over with Singer’s movie.
