Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird. It’s a plane! It’s a drone mimicking the flight patterns of Superman for a viral video that puts you in Kal-El’s boots for a three-minute POV adventure. Cool stuff, indeed. Like when he blocked bullets with his bare hands:

Superman Bullets

Or caught that lady who was falling out of a burning buiding:

Superman Lady

Or just took a spin over the city.

Superman City

The visual wizards at Corridor Digital created the short film using drone helicopters and GoPro cameras, replicating Superman’s ability to fly. But why am I explaining it to you? They also created a thrilling behind-the-scenes featurette to show you exactly how they did it themselves. And in that video, you kalso can possibly enter a contest to win your own Phantom 2 copter, used in the short. Maybe YOU can figure out how to replicate Superman’s ability to leap tall buildings in a single bound?

Seeing the arms in the bottom of the frame in the GoPro video reminds me of Zach Snyder’s admittedly awesome in-air fight between Superman (Henry Cavill) and General Zod (Michael Shannon) in Man of Steel.

Poor Metropolis!

Corridor Digital’s video likely made the rounds this week because people are Jonesing for new Superman action… and they know that it’s going to be several years before they see anything new. Snyder’s hard at work on his Batman vs. Superman movie, but that thing doesn’t even have a name yet! Snyder has been scouting out locations, and he recently hired a Lex Luthor. But we’re still YEARS away from seeing Kal-El take flight in an official DC or Warner Bros. movie. Until then, we’ll all just have to rely on our own GoPro tricks that help us fly over the skies of a bogus Metropolis, stopping criminals, and returning missing property to fledgling filmmakers. Oh, and combing over the original Man of Steel trailer, for the memories.
