Tarsem's Snow White Starts Principal Photography
Do you think the powers-that-be at Universal and Relativity sit around waiting for the other studio to release some form of Snow White news just so they can counter with a newer item that trumps what recently was reported?
Mere hours after it was reported that Rupert Sanders’s Snow White at the Huntsman with Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth would need rewrites, Relativity answered with an “everything’s fine with our version” press release announcing the start of principal photography on Tarsem Singh’s production. The as-yet-untitled Snow White feature stars Lily Collins of The Blind Side in the title role. She’ll be joined by Julia Robert as the Evil Queen, Armie Hammer as the handsome prince, and Nathan Lane as the queen’s bumbling servant.
Filming actually begins on Monday, June 20, according to the release. That’s because Relativity and Singh’s Snow now has to beat Universal’s take on the tale to theaters by almost three months (more on the release date conflict here). So basically the ball is back in your court, Universal. What new Snow White will you have for us next? I’m hoping it has something to do with Stewart’s Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson agreeing to play all seven dwarves in the production using motion-capture and green screen technology.
