I hadn't realized until watching the below trailer that Notorious, the biopic about rapper Notorious B.I.G., will be released on January 16, 2009. Coming at the peak of January doldrums, where the best we usually get is a Disaster Movie-level parody and maybe a bad thriller, this movie could do serious business.
Based on this teaser trailer, originally hosted by Yahoo! Movies, it's hard to tell whether or not it will deserve its success. The only real dialogue in the trailer comes from the actual B.I.G., talking about where he hopes to be in 10 years, and where he thinks he'll be. It's a haunting, prophetic quote, but you wonder if the movie has anything that can beat it. Within the trailer, they don't really try. Probably a smart move, given that it's just a teaser, but hopefully new footage will let us know just how much we can look forward to a movie coming out in January. We've been burned before, so it's foolish to get our hopes up too soon.
