In the last few months I've gone through quite a transformation, from a sci-fi neophyte who just though the new Captain Kirk was cute to a slobbering geek dying to know what the new phasers will look like. You'll be able to read all about that transformation in due time, but for now just know that it explains why the new Star Trek images released by Paramount have me so excited.

Because, really, they're mostly images we've seen at least fleetingly in the trailers-- Kirk gazing at the newly-built Enterprise from his motorcycle, Bones and Scotty looking confused on the bridge, Kirk driving his motorcycle again. But look! It's a new Bones! And a new Scotty! Yes, I'm having the reaction that Trek fans had a year ago when we first started seeing these images. But if you're a Trek fan then you probably still find anything new from this movie exciting.
