I don’t trust McG. Not just as a director, but as a truth teller. See him in person and he seems forthright and utterly convincing. Then get home and fact check what he said, and you’ll sometimes discover it’s mostly bullshit. That said, I can’t think of any reason he’d lie about this particular tidbit. It seems Warner Bros. may be attempting to force him to turn in a PG-13 Terminator Salvation.

The Terminator franchise is one of the last bastions of hard-edged, R-rated action. At the San Diego Comic Con last summer, McG got up in front of a crowd and promised he’d deliver an R-rating, if that’s what his movie demanded when they were cutting it. But this past weekend, as first reported by >Slashfilm in front of another convention audience at WonderCon, he revealed that it may not be up to him.

Says McG, “Where are my friends from Warner Bros.? Do you want to see Moon’s boobs in the picture, because we shot them and it’s turning out to be something that we’re not sure if it’s going to be in the movie.” McG didn’t elaborate, except to try and draw some strange connection between Bloodgood’s boobs and the spirit of Sarah Connor. I guess he had Linda Hamilton’s Terminator topless scene on the brain.

So you have to wonder, if the studio’s shying away from what is by all accounts a brief and tasteful topless scene in the movie, what other cuts are they pushing McG into making? This doesn’t sound like a Rated-R movie. They may be on the verge of giving it the Live Free or Die Hard treatment. Yippee-ki-yay, mother.

Watch the moment when McG talks up Moon’s boobs in the embedded video below:
