Terminatwhore![]()
OK, lets get it out there and cut the crap. Terminator 3 was awful. An empty, shallow, soulless string of action scenes loosely connected to the originals that somehow managed to convince people it was good just by way of an "aren't we clever" twist ending that wasn't that clever at all.
Plus it didn't even break even domestically. But this is 2005 and at a time where New Line is rumoured to be looking at a Robocop remake, nothing is sacred, not even some things that should've already been left well alone but weren't. So to that end, now pay attention closely; Variety is reporting that C2 Pictures and Warner Brothers are collaborating on a TV series for Fox called, wait for it; The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Yes, the makers of such classics as Bones are planning a Terminator TV show. The show will take place between the events of Terminator 2 and 3 and follow Sarah Conner's highly exciting job of going about business raising a 14 year old son in a world where her son may or may not become the saviour of humanity 20 years after the TV show is set when an apocalypse may or may not happen. Series Writer/Producer Josh Friedman said, ironically; "[The] challenge is trying to figure out how to reinterpret (Connor) for television. The last thing I want to do is take a title and exploit it. The show needs to stand on its own while still being respectful of the franchise." At the same time Friedman has said that because the series relies on time travel and alternate timelines, he will be taking a few liberties with how the series plays out. Hooray. Sounds like a winner to me. Neither Linda Hamilton or Arnold Schwarzenegger will feature in the series. But it gets worse. Yes that's not all. C2 Pictures head-honcho Andrew Vajna has said that the TV series, with it's new cast and plot liberties, will have a connection to the infamous Terminator 4 which is apparently in the "final stages of development". And, before you can say "Blenders saw it coming" Vajna went on to confirm that Terminator 4 will form the first part of what they hope will become... wait for it... yes... a NEW Terminator trilogy. Everybody loves a trilogy!!! Excuse me while I go wretch at my childhood being desecrated. "Creative Bankrupcy Since 1999" - The proposed new slogan for EVERY movie studio. |
