Terrence Malick Also Interested In Kathryn Bigelow's Taliban Project![]()
Remember when we told you excitedly that Kathryn Bigelow would be adapting David Rohde's New York Times series "Escape from the Taliban"? As it turns out, Bigelow isn't the only top-shelf director interested in it. According to THR, Bigelow isn't actually officially attached, and in fact, Terrence Malick has expressed interest as well.
Malick is actually interested in the project as a producer, so it's somewhat possible, if not necessarily likely, that he could produce with Bigelow directing. The project will be in good hands regardless, but with the power of both directors behind it, it could be something truly extraordinary. THR writes that the deal will likely be decided by the end of the weekend, which means we'll know soon enough whether to be excited or over the moon. In the meantime you can read Rohde's full five-part series, about being kidnapped by the Taliban and escaping after being held for nine months. It's an astonishing story, and exactly the kind of thing you can imagine filmmakers of Malick and Bigelow's caliber going for. |
