Johnny Depp is attached as a producer on Martin Scorsese’s new movie Hugo Cabret. So when an image hit the internet last week which everyone claimed contained a picture of Johnny Depp in costume on the set, well it made sense to assume that he was secretly also appearing in the movie. We were wrong. So was everyone else.

Here’s the picture which nearly everyone on the internet was circulating a few days back. The man sitting on the left is the person who’d been labeled as Johnny Depp. We can now confirm that this is not Johnny Depp.



We spoke to Paramount about it today and they informed us that’s not Depp at all, just some random guy in a mustache. They didn’t confirm whether or not Depp is actually appearing in the movie, but in the absence of this picture, there’s no evidence yet.

Hugo Cabret tells the story of an orphan living in the walls of a 1930s Paris train station. Jude Law, Chloe Moretz, Christopher Lee, Emily Mortimer, Ben Kinglsey, and Sacha Baron Cohen star.
