The Beaver Will Finally See The Light Of Blu-Ray![]()
The Beaver follows the story of Walter, a toy executive who becomes depressed after his wife kicks him out. To cope with his mental deficiency, Walter takes on the persona of a beaver hand puppet, which is not generally how people handle depression. It’s an interesting enough premise for a story, but if you haven’t heard of it, that’s probably because Mel Gibson, who plays Walter, screwed up the release by making himself unpopular via unrelated rants.
If you have heard of The Beaver, it is still likely you haven’t seen the film, because by the time it was given a chance to see the light of day, the release was extremely limited and under-promoted. Which is a shame, because from all accounts Foster is a good director and The Beaver is worth watching. If you are interested in seeing the flick, Summit Entertainment will release The Beaver to the masses on August 23. Both Blu-Ray and DVD releases will come with deleted scenes, a “Making of” featurette, and audio commentary with Jodie Foster. Gibson won’t be getting his own commentary spot. If you are interested in seeing The Beaver, you can preorder it on Amazon. It’s probably a better bet than trying to catch it at a local theater. It seems likely The Beaver will forever be in limited release. |
