Good news for folks who enjoyed the novel-to-screen adaptations of The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy. Empire Online is reporting that Tony Gilroy has been tapped to return as screenwriter for the third in the series, The Bourne Ultimatum.
It's only fair that Gilroy be handed the third film in the trilogy. He hasn't given much reason to dislike the stories behind the movies so far, except maybe die hard fans of the novels from which Gilroy has strayed quite liberally. I'm still a little miffed myself about the direction he took Franka Potente's character in the last film, but overall the writing has made for great spy flick action.
It stands to reason that we can expect Jason Bourne's role to be reprised again by Matt Damon. According to Empire all other casting is up in the air. Also unknown is who will direct. It's possible Paul Greengrass, who directed Supremacy, may return with his passion for the shaky cam. Don't stock up on Dramamine yet. Producers may continue with their trend of bringing someone new on board.
